At The Rabbit Books and Bar, our mission is to create a warm, unpretentious home for book lovers — a place where you can lose yourself in a novel, find yourself in an interesting conversation, or simply savor the quiet company of kindred spirits.

The Rabbit Books and Bar was created by a mother-daughter team of New Yorkers with a vision: pair a good book with a great drink and see what stories unfold. Inspired by the convivial spirit of European cafés, the inviting hush of libraries, and the familiar ease of old New York bars, we set out to create a place that feels timeless, a little offbeat, and deeply welcoming — like a smart friend’s living room, but with better coffee and cocktails.

We are so named because the rabbit is a longtime family symbol for us, first invoked in an earlier generation of family business, and because the rabbit is a central character in the folklore of people on every inhabited continent. We draw on that history in building our book collection, a selection that is both deeply personal and, at the same time, casts a wide net to bring you stories from all over the world.
